ASR frame and part compatibility
What is the max system weight for the ASR?
Max system weight is the total weight of rider, gear, and bike. On the ASR it depends on the components on your build, so check the ratings for your parts. Yeti's spec builds are limited by the wheels: M1900 and XM1700 wheels are rated to 120kg, and XRC1200 wheels are rated to 110kg.
What size seat post and seat collar does the ASR use?
The ASR uses a 31.6mm seat post and a 36.4mm seat collar. TURQ (T-Series) ASR frames use the Bike Yoke Squeezy clamp, and the paint masking on the seat tube is made for that collar. Other seat collars could damage the paint.
Can I run an internally routed (stealth) dropper post on the ASR?
Yes. The ASR has routing for stealth (internally routed) dropper posts only.
What is the longest travel dropper post I can run on the ASR?
The longest ASR dropper post depends mostly on your inseam. The ASR frame has no dropper length limit, so you can run any travel as long as the post is above its minimum insertion mark and your tire does not rub your saddle. Your local Yeti dealer can help you choose. Yeti runs a 125mm drop on XS and SM frames and 150mm on MD to XL frames with the Fox Transfer SL dropper. Other dropper models can go up to 240mm; check the dropper fit guide in the ASR owner's manual first.
What travel fork is the ASR designed to use?
The ASR is designed for a 120mm to 130mm travel fork. Yeti tested the ASR frame to a maximum axle-to-crown of 555mm, so you can run up to a 140mm fork.
- A longer fork slackens the head tube and seat tube angles and raises the bottom bracket.
- A shorter fork steepens the head tube and seat tube angles and lowers the bottom bracket.
Can I use an angleset on the ASR?
No. The ASR has an integrated headset with the headset cups molded into the frame. Some aftermarket anglesets fit this headset style, but the ASR frame was not tested with them and they should not be used. Installing an angleset voids the Yeti warranty, and the customer assumes all liability.
What rear wheel axle fits on my ASR?
The ASR works only with SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) axle at 12 x 148mm spacing. The axle is 172mm long with a 12 x 1.0 thread pitch. This axle only fits frames designed for the Universal Derailleur Hanger.
What cranks and bottom bracket can I use on the ASR?
The ASR uses a BSA 73mm threaded bottom bracket and is compatible only with wide q-factor cranks. Shimano, SRAM, and RaceFace cranks fit; other brands need a fit check.
What chainline was the ASR designed around?
The ASR was designed around a 55mm Boost chainline. Other chainlines may work depending on the crank and chainring, but check clearance first. The minimum clearance from the chainring teeth to the chainstay is 3.5mm.
What is the largest chainring that fits on the ASR?
With Shimano or SRAM 55mm chainline Boost cranks, the ASR fits up to a 36T chainring on XS and SM frames and up to 38T on MD to XL frames. The minimum is 28T on all sizes. The limit depends on crank chainline and chainring shape, with at least 3.5mm of clearance between the chainring teeth and the chainstay. Not sure? Ask your local Yeti dealer or contact Yeti Cycles support.
Does the ASR have ISCG mounts?
No. The ASR has no ISCG mounts. It has an optional integrated chain guide if you want more chain security.
How big a rear rotor fits on the ASR?
The ASR runs a 160mm rear rotor without a brake adaptor. With a brake adaptor, the ASR fits up to a 180mm rear rotor.
How big a tire can I fit on the ASR?
The ASR fits tires up to 2.4" wide. Actual tire sizes vary by manufacturer, so clearance can differ between brands.
Can I fit a water bottle inside the ASR front triangle?
Yes. Every ASR frame has bottle mounts on the seat tube and down tube, and fits at least one standard bottle inside the front triangle. Recommended maximum bottle sizes:
- XS: 21oz on the seat tube, 15oz on the down tube
- SM to XL: 21oz on the seat tube, 24oz on the down tube
Exact fit depends on your shock, cages, and bottles. Use Yeti's 15oz Hot Lap bottle for tight spots and a side-entry cage for the easiest access.
What is the difference between the TURQ and Carbon series ASR?
TURQ series ASR frames use Yeti's highest-grade carbon fiber for the best balance of stiffness, durability, and compliance. Carbon series ASR frames use a modified layup with different materials to lower the price while keeping the strength and stiffness of the TURQ frame. A Carbon series ASR frame weighs about 160g more than a TURQ frame. A TURQ series frame weighs about 130g more than the TURQ series Ultimate build frame.
ASR suspension setup
What shock does the ASR use?
The ASR uses a 190 x 40mm rear shock, with or without remote lockout. 40mm is the maximum designed stroke; longer-stroke shocks are not allowed.
What shock hardware does the ASR use?
The ASR uses M8 x 20mm front shock hardware and M8 x 30mm rear shock hardware (standard eyelet hardware or bearing mount).
Can I put a coil shock on the ASR?
No. A coil shock does not fit the ASR because of size constraints and limited clearance at the link.
What sag should I run on the ASR?
Start the ASR at 30% sag, which is 12mm of shock stroke, for the best pedaling efficiency and terrain compliance. Set sag at your normal riding weight with your gear on. You can go slightly above or below 30% to suit your preference. The Yeti shock setup calculator gives starting settings for your shock.
Can I remove the remote suspension lockouts on my TURQ series ASR?
Yes, but the fork and shock will then stay in the Open position and you lose the 3-position Open, Pedal, and Lock settings. To have 3-position levers on the fork and shock instead, replace the fork or shock with a lever-adjust version.
How do I set up and tune RockShox Flight Attendant on my ASR?
Set sag on a Flight Attendant ASR the same way as any air shock, using the Yeti shock setup calculator. For Flight Attendant setup and tuning, use the SRAM AXS app or SRAM.com. SRAM also has Flight Attendant video tutorials.
ASR parts, upgrades, and warranty
Can I upgrade the components on my ASR?
Yes. Many aftermarket parts fit the ASR, and parts from major brands like Fox, Shimano, and SRAM are largely standardized. Have a professional mechanic confirm each part matches the ASR's standards and mounts securely without interference or play. Check the fit before riding.
Can I replace or modify Yeti frame parts on my ASR?
Use only genuine Yeti replacement frame parts on the ASR. You can get them from your local Yeti dealer or the Yeti webstore. Yeti cannot verify that aftermarket frame parts are safe on its frames. If any ASR frame part is modified or replaced with a non-Yeti part, all warranties are void and the customer assumes all liability.
What is the warranty on the ASR?
The ASR frame has a lifetime manufacturer's warranty against defects for the original purchaser from an authorized Yeti Cycles dealer. Paint and finish are covered for 1 year. Yeti will repair or replace, at its discretion, any frame it finds defective. To use the warranty, register your bike online at yeticycles.com and take it to an authorized Yeti Cycles dealer for processing. The warranty does not cover ordinary wear and tear, neglect, or intentional damage. See the Yeti Cycles Warranty for full terms.
